Charlie's Convalidation 010

Today my husband and I went to my friend, Charlan’s convalidation. She and her husband, Gus, have been married for 23 years and Charlie (that’s her nickname) has been a Catholic for a little over a year. In fact, we both have. We met two years ago in RCIA class. . .

Our parish is HUGE — and it’s a little bit complicated making the convalidation arrangements because we have 5,000 families in our parish and only 3 priests. We both ended up having our marriages convalidated in different (smaller) parishes. Today was Charlie’s.

It was so beautiful. To renew and bless the vows of a happy, 23-year marriage is no small wonder in this day and age where one out of every two first marriages ends in divorce. For subsequent marriages, the statistics are even worse.

Charlie and her husband and children are a testament to the enduring quality of love in marriage.

And the best is yet to come!
